Why CPS’s Mission Matters

Carol Savage

Citizens for Public Schools has been the leader of defending our public schools as a public good and “cherishing” them as our Massachusetts’ constitution demands.  I believe equitable access to quality public education provides the foundation for a healthy democracy, by providing economic opportunity to all of our children, along with the knowledge and critical thinking skills to participate in our democratic processes.  Public education strengthens community, when we collectively assure that every child achieves their potential.  By bringing educators, parents and community leaders together, CPS fights to keep Massachusetts public education adequately resourced, democratically accountable, fairly evaluated – and transparent, as a public good should be.
