In January 2006, forty-four organizations statewide in the fields of education, civil rights and social justice voiced their support for a new educational vision in Massachusetts. That vision, embodied in our report "Campaign for the Education of the Whole Child" focuses on providing a rich, well-rounded education for every child, no matter where they live.

The endorsers of this campaign believe it's time to take on our state's growing dropout rate and stagnant achievement gap. It's time to address the pressures that are narrowing our children's curriculum, including inadequate school resources and an over reliance on standardized testing. It's time to turn away from a "one size fits all" approach to education and toward education that encourages critical thinking and creativity and recognizes children's individual learning needs.
