Venture capitalists and deep-pocketed corporate foundations, such as Bain Capital and the Walton Family Foundation, are moving aggressively to remake MA public schools based on their right-wing ideology. They are funding “Stand for Children” to sell a ballot initiative that would undermine our children’s learning environment and sharply restrict teacher job protections. Don’t let them do in Massachusetts what they did to Illinois!

Stand for Children
I have worked in both settings – corporate and education and firmly believe that until you walk a mile in someone else’s shoes how can you possibly have any idea what it takes to do their job? Corporations can certainly support all educators and ask for help in better training but they are not equipped to direct education. Stand for Children does exactly the opposite.

Thanks for taking on this threat to public education. I was writing about the problem just yesterday. Mitt Romney and his ilk see schools as just another target for predatory capitalism.
